Who should volunteer?

Citizen Corps asks everyone to embrace the personal responsibility to be prepared, to get training in first aid and emergency skills and to volunteer to support local emergency responders. Volunteers can come from groups including but not limited to:

• Communities of Faith
• Neighborhoods
• Scouting Organizations
• Schools
• Amateur Radio Groups
• Veterans
• Clubs & Organizations
• Businesses

What does the course involve?

CERT training is a 20-hour, hands-on course in disaster response taught by local first responders. It is designed to prepare you to help yourself and others in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Some areas covered include:

• Disaster Preparedness
• Medical Treatment
• Terrorism
• Disaster Psychology
• Light Search & Rescue
• Fire Safety
• Team Organization
• Final Exercise
